Well the old ones <em>still worked</em>, kinda. Sure I had to cut holes in them to ventilate and add room after my old feet started to spread out. Sure I had to cut off the velcro top-straps because the velcro had lost the will to be useful, and subsequently I had to replace the laces three times. But the final straw was a pain in my outer right calf that I could only attribute to a few hundred miles on a shoe that was barely hanging onto my foot, let alone providing adequate pedal pushing power.</p> <p>But the <em>real</em> reason I waited so long is this: Let’s see you find some size 49 bike shoes that are not $260 Sidi Dominators.
